For over two decades, our story has been written by our community. It’s a tale of evolution, family, and finding our true calling as the place where Margate comes together.

It began in 2002 with a spark of passion. Founder Jesse Walcutt, backed by his grandmother Jeannie Stanford, opened the first Jesse’s Xtreme Sports Bar in Pompano Beach. The walls were lined with snowboards and skate decks, celebrating the adrenaline of extreme sports. It was a niche, a passion project, and it laid the foundation for everything to come.

In 2006, we planted our enduring roots in Margate. This expansion coincided with a new partnership — Jesse and his wife, Jennifer Scaletta, who would become the heart of our hospitality. Together, they steered the ship, and over time, ownership passed fully to them. In 2021, we welcomed our longtime General Manager, Lisa Machado, as a partner, cementing that this bar is run by the family that works here every day.

Our most important evolution wasn’t just a name change — it was a realization. In 2022, we rebranded to Jesse’s Sports Bar, Grill, & Liquor Store, not because we lost our edge, but because we found our soul. We looked around and saw that while the cool extreme sports decor remained, what truly filled the room was something warmer: the community. We realized we weren’t just a niche bar; we were Margate’s essential hangout.

Today, we proudly wear two hats. By day and early evening, we’re a family-friendly grill where you can bring the whole crew for what we’ve always been famous for: our massive, delicious cheesesteaks, award-winning wings, and what our regulars swear is the world’s best hand-made blue cheese and ranch dressing. Under Chef Kayla Cooper, our menu has grown to include incredible rotating specials — from steaks and seafood to specialty pizzas — ensuring there’s always something new to savor.

As night falls, we seamlessly shift into a vibrant local bar. With 15 TVs perfectly placed, there’s not a bad seat in the house for catching any game (all shown first-come, first-served — we play no favorites with teams, only with fans).

But a building doesn’t make a home; the people and moments do. For over two decades, we’ve invested in our home, sponsoring everything from local softball and rugby teams to charity golf tournaments. Our walls vibrate with monthly laughter during our First Friday Comedy Shows, supporting local comics, and host the strategic camaraderie of our monthly Dungeons & Dragons gatherings. From bingo to Sunday football, theme nights to game nights, there’s always something fun in our monthly schedule. Need a bottle for home? Our attached liquor store is the perfect final stop.

At our core, the mission is simple. We want every single guest — whether it’s their first visit or their thousandth — to feel like they just had a great night at their best friend’s house.
